2010 Uvaggio Rosato

100% 2010 vintage
100% Lodi appellation
~81% Primitivo
~15% Barbera
~4% Vermentino

In 2010 our Primitivo was picked in mid Sept while our Barbera was in mid Oct and both were harvested at peak maturity but at relatively low brix, a perfect vintage for crafting a complex, sophisticated pink wine.

Post harvest the fruit spent several days in a cold maceration.  After the saignee (bleeding-off the pink juice) it was 100% barrel fermented with a fruit enhancing strain of yeast.  We blocked the malo-lactic conversion to preserve the vibrant expression and we occasionally stirred the wine to achieve greater complexity.

Bottled in Dec 2010; 11.4% alcohol, pH 3.33, TA 6.7 g/l & RS

Our descriptors: aromatic, fresh and lively; offering an array of flavors including guava and strawberry.
